Captain & Crew

Fabio and Cecilia and Igor

Fabio started sailing at the Guarapiranga dam in 94, where he worked as a sailing instructor at the BL3 school. In 96 he made his first crossing - from Madeira Island to Recife; it was 40 days on board a 37 feet, in the end I knew I wanted to live on board one day. In 2001, during the construction of his sailboat, he was on the Antarctic Peninsula aboard Oleg Bele's Kotic II. In December 2003, he finished building Planckton, where he moved to live.

Qualified by the Navy as Arrais Amador in 94, Mestre Amador in 96 and as Captain Amador in 2002. He was a sailing instructor at BL3 for 2 years. DiveMaster certified by Naui since 2005.

Cecília graduated in nutrition in 97. Her contact with sailing started with windsurfing in Ilhabela in 94. Since 2002 she has dedicated herself to the study of Waldorf pedagogy, having worked as a teacher for 5 years in Florianópolis. He has been sailing at Planckton since 2005.

On board the Planckton, with more than 40 thousand miles sailed, they participated in three Eldorado Brasilis Regattas (Vitória - Trindade Island - Vitória) and four REFENOs (Recife - Fernando de Noronha Regatta), among other regattas (Ilhabela Sailing Week, Race of Guys, Aratu-Maragogipe).

Between 2009 they did the Atlantic tour. After going up the Brazilian coast to Natal, they went on to Tobago (Trinidad and Tobago). After 5 months of sailing in the Caribbean, they crossed from Saint Martin to the Azores, where they stayed for 3 months. On the way back home they passed through Madeira Island, Canary Islands and Cape Verde.

Back in Brazil they returned to the island of Trindade two more times and spent 5 years in Florianópolis.

In 2019 they left again for another tour of the Atlantic, with another crew member, the cat Peanut. And this time with the commitment to continue with Igor's studies through homeschooling.

After putting the boat in the water in December 2003, Fabio left his suit and tie in São Paulo and moved to Planckton, where he has lived since. The year 2004 passed quickly as if on vacation, despite having worked hard to participate in the 5th Eldorado Brasilis. The option to live on board proved to be right: better quality of life, contact with nature, many new friends. But something was missing.

In May 2005, Cecília rented Planckton for a charter, and in Ilha da Cotia they fell in love.

In August 2006, it was Cecília's turn to leave her job in São Paulo and definitely bring her Hawaiians to Planckton. Life just got better: new trips, paradisiacal places, big projects for the future. But the best is yet to come.

On September 21, 2007, after a very peaceful pregnancy on board, Igor, the newest crew member, was born. From then on Planckton became the home of a family. An apparently unconventional family, who chose life at sea, but at the same time a family like the others, united by love, affection and mutual respect, working to live in an ever better world.
