Azorean, German and Italian colonization city, located in the north-central region of Santa Catarina and is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean and the left bank of the Itajaí-Açu River.
This mix of ethnicities has earned him a history of hard work, great food and welcoming people! In addition, it has a strong port tradition. It is there that is one of the most important ports in Brazil.
Itajaí was founded in 1860 and its name comes from Tupi. As different meanings have been found until today, there is still no official definition! Some say it means “Rio das Taiás”, others that it can be “water of the lord of the stone”.
