Florianópolis, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, is mostly constituted by the Island of Santa Catarina, with 54 km in length. It is famous for its beaches, including popular tourist resorts like Praia dos Ingleses at the north end of the island. Its Lagoa da Conceição, a salt water lagoon, is popular for windsurfing and boat excursions. The Pedro Ivo Campos Bridge connects the island to the mainland shopping area.
